Photogenic or not, let's see about that....

Part of the process for creating buzz around "C is for Conquer" is making sure I have a photo album for media and such. To begin with, it is my impression that I am not at all photogenic. I prefer to think of myself as much much better in living color. It doesn't really matter as my true beauty is inside and to know me is to experience it. I am very straight forward and honest, but always try to be impeccable with my words as not to ever hurt anyone.

Makeup & hair by Kelly Burns
Okay, so I need to get some great headshots and pics to make this happen so I go to my people and find that we have an aspiring photographer among us and then I have Kelly Burns of Bombshell Beauties to do my makeup and hair.

Kelly is a daughter of our heart not only is she is the mother of three of our grandchildren (Kami, Sienna & Ty), she is building a beautiful life with our son RJ and is a cosmetologist by trade. She has a true entrepreneurial spirit, is artistic, creative and has a great eye for photography as we find out during the shoot. Kelly has so much to offer in the world of beauty. She does it all when it comes to hair and make up. Kelly and her friend Kristy are the brains and talent behind Bombshell Beauties. They went to cosmentology school together and once they established themselves, with the support of family and friends they took a leap of faith and started their own salon. They are very giving as well and are very humble about their talents and blessings. Totally my kind of people!

The aspiring photographer is Monique Lopez, one of Kelly's dearest friends. I believe they have been friends middle if not grade school. It is crazy to say that about them because they are just youngins..... We had a great time during the shoot exploring as well as all of us were learning on one level or another. We laughed as I almost fell over several times trying to get into some yoga poses. It is much easier to get into the poses if you are actually practicing rather than striking a pose. We were also visited by peacocks, which was pretty cool and there were grapevines that had been cut back, which made me think of our trips to the wine countries. I love my red wine…. The old structures and equipment was interesting to look at and wonder about when they were originally in use.

We were also blessed with a beautiful day, with plenty of warmth and sunshine. The funny thing is the only issue we had is that my hair glowed, for lack of a better term. It was too shiny or because of the color. We had to find shade to take pics otherwise my hair kind of made the lighting a bit too bright…. I forgot about me not being photogenic and soaked up the opportunity to spend some quality time with Kelly and Monique. I really appreciate them taking time out of their lives to help me out as I intend to fully return the favor or will at the very least pay it forward.

Right now, I only have pics of the shoot. Once I get the actual results from the shoot I will certainly share them with you all….
