Perfect: Ridiculous and Highly Overrated
So Yea, I have to say the most ridiculous thing is the need
for perfection. Everything must be just perfect…. Really? What kind of self-inflicted
stressors are we putting on ourselves to try to live up to perfection or to
have to live up to someone else’s perception of perfection. Seriously, how can I
possibly know what someone else considers perfect. Furthermore, why is their
perception of perfect more important or better than mine? How about just being
perfectly imperfect? Can we be okay with that?
What is perfect or perfection? I believe it is an idea that varies
by person. Idea being the operative word here… Your idea of perfect may not be
at all that for the next person. Some want to use it as a noun, when in all
reality it should be nothing more than an expression. One to encourage and
empower to say the least. Like when a child proudly shows you something they
did or made, you could respond by saying perfect! In such a way to show appreciation
for it.

Is perfect subjective or relative? Probably depends on who
you ask. A person that requires, demands or otherwise lives for perfection is
more than likely someone that is an abuser of power and control. They drive
themselves and others around them crazy with their insane demands and
requirements for perfection. They whole heartedly believe that their perception
is the only one that counts. Here is what I say to that. If you want it done a
certain way or are striving for a certain path to perfection, Do it yourself!
When someone tries to help, and the outcome does not fit your idea of perfect,
don’t ridicule them, instead appreciate the fact that they tried to help you
out and zip it. Why would your need for perfection take precedence over someone’s
feelings?
Hmmmm…. Is perfect one of those things that the majority rules.
Such as with the perfect body type. Society would have you believe that 36-24-36
and 5’8” or taller at one time was the perfect measurements for a woman and men
should be 6’ and have a narrow waist and very broad shoulders. Why? With DNA
being as unique as it is, how is it that someone thought it was a good idea to define
the perfect body measurements. We come in all different shapes and sizes, so
why not appreciate and celebrate our uniqueness. I believe I am in pretty good
shape, but I am not 36-24-36 and do not care to be. I am considered on the
short side when it comes to height, but I am short waisted and have long legs
so I appear taller to most. People are surprised when I tell them I am only 5’3”
tall. I also have narrow shoulders; therefore, I don’t wear button up blouses. If
they fit my shoulders, I usually cannot button them. When I was younger I tried
and failed on numerous occasions trying to be perfect for others. Now I am
perfect for me!!!
I am happy and thriving
with being perfectly imperfect!
