Love III: Gratitude and the Law of Attraction

Image
Click here for Audio How do we make things better in our lives? How do we go from tragedy to triumph? How do we turn that corner from surviving to thriving? Want to know the Secret? Drum roll pleeeeeeease…………………….. Law of Attraction starting with Gratitude and LOVE!!! Yep there you have it, the Law of Attraction and  I know it works. I just have to get more consistent with overriding any negative feelings with sheer Gratitude and Love. It is Gratitude and Love that will allow you to make that turn from surviving to thriving, with all four wheels on the track. Take a moment to think about all that we have to be grateful for: Did you wake up today? If your reading this, you did and well there is one reason for you to be grateful. What is it that allows you to oxygenate your blood and body to function. Oh yeah, that would be air. Another very simple reason to be grateful. Do you have a roof over your head? Do you have blankets and clothes to keep you warm ...

Love II: Conditional vs. Unconditional

Image
Click here for Audio Click here for Love Part 1 Going back to the dress vs. my children. Obviously we have two incredibly different types of love here conditional vs unconditional. Conditional love requires that which is loved, meet a certain criteria. It has to be just right or fit the situation. Unconditional love does not have any criteria. Not easily explained but the love I have for my children is the best example I can give of this. I have raised five children and each one was, is and became their own person. All of them have had their issues of trial and tribulations. Each of them have made choices that didn’t necessarily have the outcome they expected. As their parent, I have had encounters with each one at one time or another with anything from substance abuse, sexuality, abuse, disrespect, self harm, education, etc. No matter what I never ever stopped nor will I ever stop loving them. I may not have liked what they did or said at one time or another, but I nev...

Love Part 1: Types

Image
Click here for Audio Love comes in many forms and on various levels; superficial, deep, conditional, unconditional. We may love a new dress, but that love is nothing compared to the love this mother has for her children. 2005 Dan, RJ, Yvonne, Kaity, Mookie & Cousin Megan  Two very different kinds of love. The dress is a conditional love. It must fit properly and have the right design for me to love it. My children on the other hand, since the day I learned I was pregnant with them they were unconditionally loved by me. Yes, no matter what I will always, under all circumstances, love my children. They are my absolute first true loves. Until I had children I did not know what love really was and how fulfilling it can be. Another love I have is for those that I grew to love over time and fell in love with. My husband, Ric and his children from his first marriage are my first non-biological true loves. My love for them grew over time. Ric and I were fr...

Back At It: Healing in Action

Image
Click here for Audio Due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to take an emergency hiatus from as much as I could. Emotions are still raw, so at this time I will not go into what we faced. In due time, I do plan to discuss it as it is a prevelant issue that needs to be dealt with. Although, out of respect for those I love that I know read this blog, I will honor their feelings.  Yoga is one of my go to self care practices. That being said, stepping away from blogging, "C is for Conquer," my writing and scaling back my time working with Kaity's Way is what I needed to do to take care of me and be available for my family as needed.  Challenging times can take you to places that you would rather not go. Negativity finds its way in when challenging times happen. It is almost like negativity is just waiting for something to allow it in. Therefore it is so important that we try real hard to stay self aware and if necessary make a pact with someone close to us ...

No: Can you handle it?

Image
Click here for Audio No, a word that is known in many languages for the same meaning as in the English language. It is what we say in response to something we do not want to do. To say No is to decline an offer or not participate in something or with someone. As basic and simple as the word No is, some are still confused and taken back by it. Some are taught not to take No for an answer or not accept the answer No from anyone. As if they have that kind of control over other people. People have the right to say No at any given time. We should never have to do anything we don’t want to do, but when some people hear No, they don’t acknowledge it or think you just need some convincing. Well guess what, when I say No, I mean No. I don’t need convincing I have my reasons why not and I do not owe anyone an explanation. No means No and while I do have the right to change my mind, I do not need anyone trying to convince me otherwise. Personally, I do not appreciate it when I tell som...

Enabling: No bueno

Image
Click here for Audio Enabling in my humble opinion is when someone has crossed the line from helping to hurting. Initially enabling is disguised as helping until the one that has been enabled moves from being appreciative for the help to expecting the help to fix any and all situations for them. For instance, a rather healthy elderly couple is having a Will drawn up and they are not sure about leaving their $5 million dollar estate to their only child, who is now a thirty something adult. Their concern is that the child has been irresponsible when it comes to finances. Forever creating debt, filing bankruptcy for a bail out and repeating the same mistakes. The elderly couple is torn and you can tell they really want a reason why they should give the money to their child. To give someone that is financially irresponsible $5 million dollars would hurt them more than anything. Some may disagree, but if you really care about that person you wouldn’t do that to them. The elde...

Self care practices: What works for you?

Image
Click here for Audio Self care is a matter of taking time to care for yourself. So, how do we do this? How do we determine what we need when we need it? All good questions and quite honestly there is no one right answer except it depends. It depends on who we are and what toots our horn. What do we enjoy and makes us truly feel  good organically. What do I mean by organic, some may ask. Organic in this respect is without the help of any substances such as alcohol. For some this takes some serious thought. I know I had to think long and hard about it. I began to figure this out when I was fighting for my life with breast cancer. I had realized I wanted to live and live I would. Now that I have decided I am going to live, how do I do that and enjoy it. It was no longer enough to exist or just survive. I am going to live and this put me on the path to thriving. Part of thriving is performing self-care. It is not selfish at all to take care of oneself. As a mat...
